ALLUVIAL FAN HAZARDS
nhc has lengthy experience with hazard assessment and mitigation on alluvial fans from Alaska to Peru. nhc has worked with federal, state/provincial and local governments, as well as private landowners and developers, to determine potential risk to life and property stemming from the dynamic water and sediment flows typical of alluvial fans. nhc has employed approaches ranging from geomorphic analysis to multi-dimensional numerical modeling to quantify risk, map flood- and erosion-prone areas, and develop designs for protective works to mitigate these risks.
