JUNIOR INSTRUMENTATION TECH - NHC Vancouver, British Columbia

Northwest Hydraulic Consultants (NHC) is an international firm of engineers, geoscientists, and technologists providing professional services for the development, management, and protection of water resources.

We are currently seeking a technician/technologist with a background in instrumentation, electronics, and mechanical systems. The position will be based out of our North Vancouver office with some project work throughout BC and Western Canada.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • High-quality client service
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail with openness and ability to learn new skills on the fly
  • Self-motivated individual with a demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks to meet tight deadlines
  • A background in instrumentation, electronics, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to assist in assembling data acquisition software and hardware in the lab
  • Experience with construction of test rigs and systems
  • Experience with calibrating equipment and maintaining a database
  • Ability to service lab and field equipment
  • Must be able to work with hand and power tools, construction experience is an asset
  • Willingness to work in the lab (75%) and in the field (25%) including multiple days of travel throughout BC and Alberta
  • Ability to lift 50lbs
  • Ability to work from heights and on a ladder
  • Ability to safely and confidently work in and around bodies of water such as rivers, streams, and oceans
  • Occupational first aid
  • Class 5 driver's license
  • Hours of work are variable - your flexibility in availability is required
  • Beneficial experience: rope work, driving trucks and watercraft, hiking, and mountaineering.
